Her facial expressions fascinate me. Makes me wanna smile, makes me wanna cry. I really have to live my life knowing that so wont marry Timothée and it makes me upset.

Unpopular opinion: I adore Amy and Laurie, they've always made better sense to me then Jo and Laurie. Love Little Women: LA? Stay up to date on all of your favorite Lifetime shows at. I always loved Beth. How silent and contented she always is, not comparing herself to others, not asking for more than she has (which of course can have its downside, as she does not get as 'noticed' as the rest. How much of a good heart she possesses and how she exposes herself to illness because she is trying to help people in need. And I love how Jo, who is the extrovert one, is the closest one to her. ♡ Oh Jo, why say no to Laurie? 😢😭 What could you possibly not like about him. Haha I cant stand Christy she used the moment outside to beg for friendship lol.

Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2016 Format: Blu-ray Verified Purchase Oh, if only for ghosting..... It pains me to sit here knowing what I am about to write. Warner Bros. was extremely gracious to send me a handful of screeners to review knowing that I would be promoting the good word of 3D on this forum. However, when there seems to be a problem with their initial batch of Blu-ray releases I can't morally sit here and praise them to the membership. Their Imax release of Under The Sea looks terrific. However, their Imax release of Space Station 3D is lacking 3D in the first 3 minutes. Now, The Polar Express is exhibiting its own set of problems. I sort of wonder if anyone is doing some quality control here. I'll get into all this in a moment.... I had to chuckle when I decided I was going to review this title. It took me back a few years to our last Home Theater Forum meet. The studio sent us an advance copy of their initial 3D DVD release of The Polar Express and we were showing it off in our demo room at the hotel. Here we were, a ragtag group of enthusiasts with cardboard glasses on our faces admiring the cheesy 3D. Boy, we have come a long way in a few short years. Potentially, The Polar Express could have been a flagship animated feature release for the studio on the 3D format. Originally filmed for Imax with motion capture technology, The Polar Express translates beautifully to Blu-ray. This was my very first time watching the movie ever and I was completely mesmerized by the film's charming story and utterly stunning, realistic animation. Transfer quality is as good as it gets. I love the film's warm, natural color palette consisting primarily of blue and gold. Everything looks perfect here. The quality of the 3D separation is quite good and very effective. I have three favorite scenes where I found the 3D effect to be most effective. The first involves a floating train ticket. Then there's an exciting train descent into Glacier Gulch. Finally, the entire Christmas Town square sequence looks outstanding with all its brightly lit colors and 3D dimensionality. There really aren't any "In Yo' Face" 3D moments. Most of the material stays within the confines of the screen with the exception of some minor screen protruding from the fender of the train or the cap of the train's hobo. So here we have this immaculate, gorgeous holiday eye-fest that would have looked perfect on 3D if not for the fact that it is marred with ghosting problems. It doesn't take long to notice the problem. The first scene where the young boy is lying in bed you see double imaging within his face. When this same boy steps onto the Polar Express, takes his seat and meets the black girl, you can see double imaging going on within her facial features. Some behind-the-head shots reveal ghosting in the ears and along the hairline. Watch the scene where the kids are being pulled up inside Santa's sack and see how the ropes are double-imaged. In fact, there are moments that I actually experienced eye strain from the amount of ghosting and occasional blurriness. The DTS-HD audio lovingly conveys Alan Silvestri's score which is mostly prominent in the front channels. This is a very bass-heavy audio track. The oncoming sound of The Polar Express literally shook my floor. Like all of Warner's new 3D releases, The Polar Express arrives in beautiful lenticular packaging. CONCLUSION Ultimately, I am disappointed. This is such a beautiful film and as much as the 3D enhanced my initial experience with it, the ghosting issues became a big distraction. I am sitting here hoping that someone can prove me wrong on all the ghosting problems I see with this title. The last thing I want to do is slam the studio for a title like this. However, up until now I have been seeing some great 3D content with none of these problems. I even switched out my glasses for another pair just in case it was a hardware issue. Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2018 Format: DVD Verified Purchase We are booked on a polar express train ride and wanted to have a movie night viewing this movie prior to our train ride. This movie hasn’t come out of the DVD Player yet just a continuous replay! Pricing was fair! Packaging was good. Arrived on time. Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2017 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase If you haven’t seen this movie you are missing out. It’s greatfor Christmas time but can be watched anytime by train lovers. My daughter loves trains and we took her in the Polar Express train to the “North Pole” this year where we lived. The train in this movie is actually based off the train we road and because of this experience she loves this movie. The graphics are amazing too. Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2018 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase I would like to think that long ago I had the book at one point but I don't remember if I ever did. That's not reverent I suppose, and anyway, this review is about the movie and not the book so don't expect this to be a movie versus book kinda thing. Perhaps the book is better (which is a given for an adaptation) but this isn't about the book. I can understand why some people wouldn't like this movie because of the "Uncanny valley" CGI. I kinda grew up in the era of Uncanny valley CGI in movies and TV--does anybody remember the show ReBoot the first computer-animation TV series? ReBoot was squarely in the uncanny valley. And ReBoot was before Toy Story. Second this movie doesn't have much of a plot: just a kid boarding a train to see Santa when he's not sure that he actually believes in Santa. The kid doesn't even have a name. This is a holiday movie I've been watching for several years which is something of a tradition. The story is simple. I can see where this movie would be much better in an iMax theater given a memorable roller coaster moment. It's not a great movie but I tend to watch it around Christmas time. Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2016 Format: Blu-ray Verified Purchase 3D review watching and owning hundreds of 3D movies I was excited to watch this classic in 3D. were some great 3D out of screen effects and depth in this movie. frozen lake scene is super the reason I'm giving this movie a 3 star rating and it not making my top 20 list is because I noticed a considerable amount of ghosting especially in the background. is an older 3D movie and the 3D technology is alot better now then it was 12 years equipment is a profesionally calibrated samsung 80 inch suhd 4k 3D led tv with Active glasses from 9 feet center of screen with a 4k up converting blu-ray player and paradigm surround system with 12 inch paradigm it wasn't for the ghosting it would have been a top 10 movie in my 3D collection for sure.. Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2016 Format: Blu-ray Verified Purchase Love this movie! Started watching this movie the year it was made and my first granddaughter was born. A few years later, she started watching with me. Ever since, it's been one of the 4-5 Christmas movies we MUST watch every year. Just got a new copy on Blu-Ray, and it's lovely (holds up even 12 years later). Like others have said, you need to watch it all to take in the messages and appreciate it. It's not rude, crude, or otherwise shocking in any fashion - just good fun and a positive message without being at all preachy. Some movies stand the test of time - Tom Hanks no doubt has a lot to do with the charms of this movie and I hope one day my granddaughter watches it with her kids. Happy Holidays all - whether it Christmas or other celebration. Anyone can appreciate the messages and fun of this movie. Peace to all. It conveys the Christmas message, is entertaining and it has a story line. For me though, it catches just the right balance between the awe and wonder of the world seen through a child's eyes. The animation is great and the sound quality is awesome. I bought the bluray to be able to project it onto the big screen with a powerful surround sound system. The train arriving, the music and the elves singing all come from the appropriate directions and give the sound field a real 3D feel. It 100% sounds like a train is pulling up in your lounge. Although, to be fair, not many steam trains have pulled up in my lounge. I am 56 and I don't generally like kids films, but I have watched this about ten times. All aboard! It will remain a family favourite in our household for years to come. 3 people found this helpful An excellent family film for Christmas Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 4, 2016 Verified Purchase A lovely entertainment for children and those who take a delight in children's films! At first I wondered why the film was made from computer-generated characters rather than using real actors and actresses, but a little way in, the action became so dramatic and perilous that it was obvious why the film-makers had done it this way. The story is about a boy who, while waiting for Santa Claus to arrive, nods off and is then woken up by a terrific noise that turns out to be the Polar Express, a train that takes children to the North Pole for the night. The narration by Tom Hanks and others is excellent, and the film's storyline carries the viewer away completely. The ideals and hopes of one young boy with new acquaintances and friends he discovers on board, are all express-bound for the North pole on Christmas Eve. An almost ethereal town-scene is created with great computer graphics as Santa and his elves bring a certain rational to the festive gift-giving extravaganza. A real North Pole community, a real Santa and a real helpers assist the film to appeal to both old and young alike. Most of the characters learn something about themselves on this journey north, largely courtesy of Tom Hanks' ticket collector and an eeriness is supplied by a ghostly tramp riding atop the train but in the end the festive feeling of warmth and goodwill rounds off a quite delightful film. Beautiful Film and Blu Ray Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 17, 2012 Verified Purchase The Polar Express is, quite simply, the best Christmas film of all time! The plot is simple: a young boy living in Grand Rapids, Michigan, who does not believe in Santa, boards the Polar Express on Christmas Eve and is taken to the North Pole to meet the man himself! "Seeing is Believing", says a Hobo who rides the rails with the boy. Well, after this film, you will have seen and you will believe. Picture Quality: 10/10. The picture gets full marks from me and, being honest, I don't give full marks often where Blu Ray quality is concerned. However, this one is visually exemplary!! It is a definite upgrade from any DVD counterpart, that's for sure. Colours and textures look really well and, really, the bottom line is that if you have young kids, I guarantee you this is a film they will treasure and enjoy for years to come, especially this Blu Ray release. Sound Quality: 10/10. I would also give the sound full marks for this release. By all accounts, the sound simply has a lovely feel to it, considering the nature of the film. Dialogue is spot on and the soundtrack in the background is also a real pleasure to listen to. The sound is top drawer, all things considered. Overall, I would highly recommend a purchase of the Polar Express on Blu Ray. In my opinion, it is the best Christmas film of all time, one that the young children in the family will really treasure and enjoy for many years! Also, when you watch the film, be sure to check out the special features, they are really very interesting. Buy it. Thanks for reading this. This is a two disc blue ray. on the first disc you get the real 3D version and a 2D version. A little puzzling that on the 2nd disc you get another 2D version? The blue ray is pretty good and the 3D looked good with good depth and a few pop outs the best being the front engine of the train after collecting the second boy. This is a real Christmassy film and a good 3D plus 2D no digital copy which I never use, Blue Ray True (Need 3DTV 3D player and glasses to view the 3D) 3D disc And a few extras. Unfortunately, this bluray disc was not the expected 'true' 3D but simply that pathetic blue and green glasses version. Don't waste your money, stick to the cheaper DVD version which is clearer and brighter because it hasn't been messed about with. This review is only about the 3D quality. The film itself is OK, but not brilliant. Poor 3D and wrong region for 2D disk Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 1, 2017 Verified Purchase This film requires coloured glasses to view in 3D. Cardboard glasses were provided with colour filters but the 3D effect was extremely poor and certainly not worth the money. Also the 2D version provided on a second disk would not play. I seems that the disk was for USA and Canada and not for UK and Europe. Amazon's description of the product is inadequate since it didn't indicate what type of 3D system the film was using. It certainly was not the modern polarised system used by modern 3D TV's December will be magic again Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 20, 2007 Verified Purchase We have started a Christmas Eve ritual in our house of watching the Polar Express because it comes closest to capturing the magical experience of Christmas -just like when I were a lad -except for my kids its probably because they are lads. Originally released in 2004 and adapted from the book by Chris Van Allsburg the film caused a stir for it s use of "Digital capture " technology where The film used 3D motion capture techniques to digitally record the physical performances of the actors before "skinning" them with their animated forms. All the children's roles were acted by adults using over-sized props to get the movement right. It was also the first film to be simultaneously released as a 3D "Imax " feature. The story is pertinent in these cynical and grossly over- commercialised times at its concentrates on a boy ( never named but credited as "hero boy" and acted by Tom Hanks but voiced by Daryl Sabara) lying in his bed on Christmas and having a crisis of faith over the existence of Santa Claus who hears a steam train pull up outside his house, Going outside to investigate still clad in his nightgown the slightly gruff guard( Tom Hanks) informs him that the train is the Polar Express heading for the North Pole. The boy initially declines the offer of a ride aboard the train but jumps on at the last minute is given a ticket marked "Believe" and finds out the train has other pyjama wearing children aboard including a confident young girl credited as "Hero girl" ( Nona Gaye), a nerdy know it all ( Eddie Deezen) and an introverted boy( Named as Billy but credited as "Lonely boy" acted by Peter Scolari but voiced by Jimmy Bennnet) who sits apart from the other kids have had tickets with personal messages. During the journey he meets hobo( Tom Hanks again) who sits atop the carriages, the train is blocked by Caribou nearly derails and in a truly fantastic sequence he loses his ticket and we follow the flight of the errant ticket back to the train stop at the North Pole with five minutes to spare much to the relief of the stressed out conductor but when "Lonely Boy" stays on board the train "Hero boy" and "Hero girl" attempt to talk him off but they inadvertently separate the carriages and end up taking an unsupervised tour of the surrounding town and the elves toy factory before eventually meeting Santa Claus (Tom Hanks again) This encounter gives them the power to believe in Christmas again and something comes into "Hero boys" possession which resonates down the years is a great movie, beautifully directed by Robert Zemeckis with sly nods to his former films ( "Hero Boy" pulls the trains whistle and says" I've wanted to do that all my life" the same thing Doc says and does in "Back To The Future 3". )The story is wrung through with the enchanted mystique of Christmas -especially Christmas for kids yet it never resorts to trite cliché or becomes sentimental. Critics of the movie viewed the digital effects as giving the characters a sinister creepy ambience which says more about their state of mind than the film itself. It is actually a film about Christmas rather than a film set at Christmas where other things happen and basically seems to be saying that if we all just dropped our sceptical carapace and embraced the spirit of the season it would become a time for wonder again. This is simplistic not to mention unrealistic but for the 99 minutes The Polar Express is on you will believe it possible. December can be magic again. 7 people found this helpful False advertising Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 12, 2019 Verified Purchase Waited a good few days for this to arrive and when it did it was only the 3d disk. You always get a standard bluray disk with 3d movies. Also IT ARRIVED IN A CD CASE. What the hell!!! Why not the bluray case with the nice cover to add to my collection. Very unhappy with this item, very poor and false advertising. Would not recommend buying from these cowboys, you wont know what might turn up Superb Quality, Wonderful Story Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 16, 2009 Verified Purchase This is a beautiful animated film based on the illustrations by Chris Van Allsburg in his gorgeous book The Polar Express. Great animation is backed by a wonderful soundtrack, one of the best Christmas film soundtracks. The film is great for children and adults to enjoy together at Christmas. The high definition of the Blu-ray format bring out the stunning detail of the animation. The extras are particularly interesting as they show the way in which the film was made. The actors wore special suits and their motion captured by advanced cameras and computers. The motion capture was then turned into animation. It's fascinating seeing Tom Hanks acting all of his various parts and how he developed the interactions between the characters that he acted himself. There are plenty of other 'behind-the-scenes' insights too, even a deleted song that was omitted from the film during early stage animation. A great Christmas film, great music and worth getting in high definition. 3. 0 out of 5 stars Good Provider, unclear advertising of product by amazon. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 16, 2013 Verified Purchase Hi I am not critical of the provider of the DVD who were professional and prompt in their service. But I assumed from Amazons description it was a 3D DVD which could be played on a normal 3d TV using standard 3D glasses (I typed in 3D DVDs on Amazon). When it arrived the information was in Italian and 4 pairs of the cardboard red and green glasses (I have not seen since the 1960s) were provided. even with these glasses my granchildren cannot view in 3D on our 3D TV. So it was more the clarity of advertising by Amazon than the vendor. I am disapointed although luckily it came with a 2D copy which we will view. Not Amazons normal standard. regards Thank goodness it includes the 2D version... Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 11, 2009 Verified Purchase I was really excited about the new version - I already have The Polar Express on DVD but after seeing it at the Imax in 3D, I was looking forward to a little bit of that magic in my home. I know that home 3D with those cheap coloured glasses won't ever rival the Imax's, but home 3D can work very well (Journey to the Center of the Earth has great 3D effects). However, as stated elsewhere, the 3D here goes from 'slight' to headache-inducing blurred double-images - my other half could only stand 5 minutes before she had a migraine. I really do think they've mis-authored the disc, but then that begs the question - "why did they release it in this state? " It's saving grace is that it includes the 2D blu-ray version, which has very good picture and sound quality. Buy it for that reason alone. Report abuse.

Laurie staying true to what her said to Jo during the iconic proposal aka rejection scene: I'll watch. The way Ellen jokes with serious face omgggg. Her eyes make me melt. So liquid blue. I love her. GREAT up and coming actress. When I heard Greta Gerwig was directing a new adaptation of Little Women my heart sank. Was Hollywood so devoid of new ideas that we needed yet another remake? As a fan of the 1949 and 1994 versions, did we need another retelling? Well yes we did! This version is moving, uplifting, heartbreaking and beautifully shot. The characters are more rounded and even though it's Jo's story, each of the sisters shine. Particular plaudits to Florence Pugh, Emma Watson and Eliza Scanlen, none of whom are American, for their impeccable accents and performances. However, the heart that beats the fullest is Jo, played by a wonderful Saoirse Ronan, who is caring, spirited and a joy to watch. Could she finally win a deserved Oscar? Thank you Greta. Louisa M Alcott would be proud.

Well, I made it to the end, but it was a slog at times (especially the last half hour. Despite cries for it, I'm not expecting Greta Gereig to be nominated for any Oscars as it just isn't that good!
If Saiirse Ronan gets a nomination I'd be ok with that as she carries thus movie.
Emma Watson and Florence Pugh are good in their supporting roles, whilst Laura Dern and Meryl Streep do what they do, so well. For me though, the stand out performer was a man. Timothèe Chalamet is a man to watch.
The costumes are all on point and the cinematography as beautiful. Yorik Le Seux should be nominated for an Oscar. I think the cinematography is the best thing about the movie.

I've been Amy in more ways than I would ever care to admit. ELIZZZZAA. I'm in love 🥵. Cásate ahhaha. These episodes are from 2016 but Brianna and Matt are divorced and Brianna is remarried. This is a wholesome clip. The difference in script here between the 1994 proposal and the 2019 proposal is so interesting to me. In this, Laurie ends his speech with And I'll be hanged if I stand by and watch where as, in the 2019 version, it is the opposite: And I will watch. I think the latter is more mature, more accurate, and more devastating than the former. In the 2019 version, he loves her so much that he is willing to put her needs first, he is willing to take the rejection, he is willing to watch her fall in love because he knows that's what she deserves. And he does all this because of how much he loves Jo. In this 1994 version, he comes across as petulant and bitter, which turns a complex relationship into a black and white transaction. It gives the viewer permission to let Laurie fall in love with Amy because you see he is too immature and boyish to love Jo. But in 2019, the audience knows he still loves Jo and our willingness to let him love Amy is much more begrudging, but so much more powerful because we all know the reality of loving more than one person in different ways. Anyway, thanks for reading my TED Talk about one (1) line in Little Women.

I was honestly thrilled that the professor was not old XD the movie was so, so good, and I cried so, so many times.
